About

Hello one and all, and welcome to Screen Muse: a place for my film reviews and rambles.

I’m an English graduate from the University of Exeter. In my first year of my degree I wrote my final essays on David Lynch’s Blue Velvet with Lacan’s Pyschoanalysis, and on childhood in The Piano and Pan’s Labyrinth. Through researching and working on these, I began to notice a growing passion for writing on film, which I then pursued in my spare time (through this blog, and a website called letterboxd). I’ve always loved film, and yet discussing visuals alongside words was something that I found particularly fascinating, and it’s safe to say I’ve been obsessed ever since.

This blog is a place to store and work on my opinions on film. It is a space both for me to develop my reviewing skills, and for me to share more informal thoughts on themes etc.

There’s a search bar at the bottom of the site which you can use to find particular reviews, and there’s also a Review Archive for if you’re feeling like browsing through my posts.

  1. Just find out your blog after you started following me on letterboxd, and it was a surprise to me, first because I started a movie blog with this same “skin” a few months back, and also because you have wrote an essay using Lacan’s Psychoanalysis and I’m graduating in psychology next semester, using Lacan and Freud to talk about violence among police officers. I’ll definitely follow your blog, maybe one day we could share our works!

  6. Wow, your blog is amazing! Will definitely be reading all your reviews and hopefully might try to watch some of the films I haven’t seen before (of which there are many it seems).
